Memorial Dayby Joyce L. Blume
This is the day to stir our memories,
Of the lives lost in wars gone by.
A Day to set aside and to honor,
The many that were brave enough to die!
Oh, they didn't go because they wanted to,
But, it was a thing that had to be,
If they were to build a great Nation,
And keep that nation, FREE!
They gladly obeyed when their country called,
Though with heavy hearts they went,
Marching off to foreign lands,
Yes, many to an early grave were sent!
As we reminisce and count all wars,
We can name them, one by one,
And we must recall each precious life given:
A Grandfather, a Father, a Daughter and Son.
So many and yet, there are will still be many more,
We know not who they may be?
For yes, there are more wars yet to come
If our Great Nation is to remain, FREE!
There will be wars and rumors of wars,
Does not God's Word tell us so?
But Christian Brethren be not concerned,
Just LOOK-UP and be ready to go!
Yes, be ready to go home and be with the Lord,
For the worst of all wars is yet to come.
A war of wars must still be fought,
Victory o'er Satan is still to be won!
Soon Christ will come with His army of saints,
To end all wars, so march in His way,
And remember, the freedom we have to worship God,
Was bought with the lives, we honor, this Day
