What If Jesus Hadn't Come?
by Paul Leaman

What if Jesus hadn't come,
To what fate would we succumb?
Would the world now be a nicer place?
Would things be better for the human race?

These questions chill my soul.
What, no Christ to make us whole.
No shed blood to wash us pure,
That we in Christ may be secure.

Without Jesus, I'm sure I would be,
In some dark prison, without a plea.
Without His constraining hand,
Indeed, my house would never stand.

Oh to contemplate such a thought,
My heart in truth is overwrought.
Oh, no Jesus to guide my way,
No Jesus to hear when I pray.

Oh thank you for condescending so,
And for the love that You bestow.
For dying on the cross that day,
May we live for You, oh Lord I pray.
