Sister and Me
by Robert H. Gilbert, Jr.

We sat a tree upon the ground, with lights all around
There’s even a bulb, two, or three
we placed a card under the tree,
hoping you’ll have time to read
Sister and Me

You can see the tree from the road at night,
though the lights are not too bright
There’s no stars on the tree
For in Heaven, there’s plenty you will see

The grass that once was brown, is now soft and green
Even though it’s been months since it rained
We kneel to pray and say goodbye,
the grass is watered by the tears we cry
Sister and Me

We stand to turn and walk away,
I looked back to see things are in place
Flowers are spread all around where you once laid
But, we know where you will spend your Christmas Day

I looked up and said, “Yes, Mom, this is all just for you”.
With Love,
Your Daughter, and Your Son too
