Stripped of His robe, His body left bare,
His only covering a crown of thorns.
He hung there between heaven and earth,
Dripping their spittle and lashed with their scorn.
Oh, the pain and suffering was so very great,
As they looked on his nakedness without any care.
They laughed, jeered and jested about,
And some sat down and watched him there!
Even the Father did need look away.
For man's sake, this thing had to be done.
But, man's heart can never imagine the pain,
God himself felt, for His only begotten Son.
Jesus cried with a loud cry, "It is finished" and then--
He have up the ghost and died for all men.
The debt being paid, the curtain was rent,
He had completed the job, for which he was sent.
The jaws of death could not hold him,
And the grave had no room,
He rolled back the great stone
And came forth out of the tomb.
Between heaven and earth this act did take place,
Once and for all, yes never again!
For His blood sacrifice was acceptable unto God,
He now sits at His right hand, as mediator for man!
Yes, Jesus died and arose again for our sin,
May we always remember His suffering and shame,
And give glory to His Dear name, in all that we do,
As we watch and wait His return, once again.
