A Prayer To Thee
by Paul Leaman

Oh Father, There was a time
when we dreaded to come unto Thee,
For we were guilty sinners
and Thou, Thou wast angry.

But now we will praise Thee
because thine anger is turned away.
Thy throne once a place of dread,
we flee to now without delay.

We long to get away from the world
and the battles we fight day by day,
the pain, the worries, sorrow and cares,
and all the trials that cause dismay.

We draw away from the filth of the day,
the profanity, the lewdness, the lies of men
that seek for fame and great renown
and turn to their sin again and again.

Ah, but when we flee and turn to Thee
who art all purity and holiness
we find peace and delight and joy
and are comfroted in completeness.

Oh bring us then, we pray to Thee
to abide closer every day.
Help us to live as we should
yes pleasing to Thee we pray.
