Struck By What I See
by Paul Leaman

Again this Christmas Season
I am struck by what I see,
for all the stories of Christmas
that are shown on TV,
are all about Santa Claus
and the great wonder that he be.

With his bright red coat
and white beard upon his face,
in a sleigh pulled by reindeer
traversing time and space,
all sweet touching stories
we all love to embrace.

But is that the true meaning
of Christmas, to celebrate this year?
Is the true meaning of Christmas
about to disappear?
You may think I am over reacting
but I assure you I'm sincere.

For my heart is troubled
as I see Jesus pushed aside,
it's not just here on TV,
but it's truly spread worldwide,
Is Jesus to be forgotten,
is He to be denied?

One day my friend,
the true meaning you will know,
no Santa Claus then,
no sleigh bells in the snow,
no, all will be solemn,
all will be misery and woe.

O why not put Christ in Christmas
and receive Him even today.
He is God's gift to you,
O receive Him now I pray,
He's the true meaning of Christmas
and that's no cliche.
