The Cords That Bind
by Paul Leaman

How precious and sweet
Are the cords that bind,
My heart to Thee
And Thy heart to mine.

Yet, strong and lasting
Beyond degree,
Lasting forever,
For an eternity.

There were cords that once
Scourged Thy back,
The onslaught of Satan's
Fiendish attack.

There were cords and nails
That held Tee fast,
To a cruel cross
Where Thou died at last.

But in the tomb,
The cords of death,
Were strong, yet broken
As God gave Thee breath.

Ah, Thy cords of love
That reach down to men,
Are so far reaching
We can't comprehend.

Ready to forgive
All those who believe,
To strum a new cord
If Christ they receive.
