"But where sin abounded,
His grace does superabound.
This mercy He carries to His people,
That thought to me, so profound.
When we turn unworthily to Him,
He'll not cast away the weak saint,
If there is a little faith in them
And in the way they oft do faint.
He'll not throw them away for hypocrisy,
Nor for the little sincerity they possess.
He will not despise their awful pride,
Nor the way they seem to transgress.
He will not disdain them for their passions,
Because of the grains of weakness within.
A wise man will not throw away his gold,
If he finds a bit of dross therein.
Christ looked more upon Peter's sorrow,
Than He did upon Peter's sin.
O thank You our Heavenly Father,
For just how longsuffering You've been.
