Rejoice In Affliction
by Paul Leaman

How strange that we can say
Even in the evil day,
When pain eer racks our head
And oft we feel like the dead.
Yet we can praise the Lord above
For truly He has given love.
Through the pain that we bear
We turn to Him through much prayer.
Thus, we abide eer closer to Him,
Though our way be somewhat dim.
Do we deserve, ought from Him
Who often now, turn to sin?
No, I say with heavy heart
For in the flesh we oft depart,
And send an arrow to His heart.
So He chastens in much love
To draw our gaze to God above.
Thus, we rejoice in affliction
And submit to His conviction.
We trust His mercy to prevail
Till we enter through the veil.
