The Black Swelling River
by Paul Leaman

Be content to wade through the waters,
Betwixt you and glory with Him.
For He holdeth your hand evermore,
Though your eyes grow weary and dim.

For He knoweth all the fords;
Though the waves roll over your head,
You can never, never be drowned,
Yes, He knoweth what lieth ahead.

As you come to the black swelling river,
Putting forth your foot after Him;
However strong be the current
In that river, you are safe with Him!

Ah, do not dread that day of parting
When you leave this old world of sin,
Think of what He’s prepared for you
And the glory you’ll have there within.
