Ah, To Know You
by Paul Leaman

Ah, to know you Lord,
Every day, more and more.
To bask in the light of Your countenance
To cling, to the God I adore.

To rest completely and wholly
And abide with You evermore.
I loath the sinfulness around me;
My lust and pride I abhor.

I long, I long to be holy,
Father, fully yielded to You.
Oh strengthen that desire Lord;
Every evil thought, subdue.

I thirst and long for that day
When all temptation ceases,
Where I will dwell evermore
And my love for You increases.

Give a bit of that glory now,
As I abide with You day-by-day.
Let my thoughts sore on high;
Your love through me display.

That others might see Your beauty,
And long to know You as well.
Oh why would they die without You
And suffer forever in Hell?

For, even to know You in this life,
Is a joy beyond compare.
What better way to live on earth,
Than a life with God you share.

To trust You with each problem,
To bring to You each care.
Knowing that, You always love us
And answer every prayer.

Help me now this day Lord,
A bruised reed, a smoking flax.
For I am nothing without You Lord,
And no match for Satanís attacks.

Oh gracious Father,
In the infinitude of Your love,
Guide me, strengthen and bless,
Till I abide with You Lord, above.
