The Shepherds
by Paul Leaman

What ever happened to those shepherds long ago?
Who were there when the night was all aglow?
When the sky was filled with angels bright,
Those shepherds bathed in that glorious light.

Fear not, for good tidings we bring to all,
For over in Bethlehem, born in a stall;
A Saviour, which is Christ the Lord,
He is to be praised and much adored.

Then going, with haste to see that glorious sight,
They somehow knew, things would be alright;
For the Saviour of all mankind had come,
To save them, each and every one.

The sight of Jesus touched them so,
And telling the story, every where they would go;
All the people wondered at the things that were told,
For Messiah was born, who was foretold of old.

Just think of being there that wonderful night,
And being touched and moved by that glorious sight;
Did the shepherds continue on in faith from that day?
Did they love their God and to Him daily pray?

Chances are they didn't truly understand,
God's wondrous and glorious salvation plan;
Do you know why Jesus came to earth, so long ago?
He came to die for you, because He loves you so.
