In the Night
by Paul Leaman

In the still of the night
When sleep doesn't come,
I think of the sight
Of God's own dear Son.

"I am the light
of the world" He once said;
That light so bright,
The thought filled my head.

As I lay there and pondered
with love in my soul,
I rejoiced and yet wondered,
Why He,loves me so.

In darkness I lived
With sin in my life;
He longed to forgive
Yet, I put up a fight.

How long I walked
With sin in control,
How long I balked,
Yet He loved me so.

Now I lay trusting,
Resting in Him;
I no longer go lusting
For a world full of sin.

Oh the joy and delight,
Oh the rapture of my heart
As I lay here tonight
With peace in my heart.
