Special Song
by Joan Clifton Costner

Oblivious to all else, I hear
The music that comes soft and clear.
Each note surrenders, just as planned,
To make the melody so grand.

And nature sings a little, too.
What else can Mother Nature do,
But not to interfere with sound
So it can circle round and round?

The hands that move upon the keys
Are really very much like these
That lay, so idly, on my lap
And know they'd never sound like that!

And there is one upon the bench
With touch so perfect, seems a cinch
To make the hum drum melody
Beautiful in simplicity!

There's something in the touch and form
That makes my heart so very warm;
Something that says my heart beat swells
In every touch her young heart tells!
