bring fifth month roses, pansies, geraniums, daisies,
marigolds, zinnias, and leaves of green
they soothe a dwarfed heart
that has tasted pain, sadness, disappointments, trials,
and long periods of gloomy darkness
unraveling before their eyes
the pressure of pain brings horns of dilemmas.
As Walt Whitman once said,
"Whatever happens to anyone can be turned into good results."
In the book most high, it tells us
"All things work together for good to them that love God." (Romans 8:28)
He brings us trials for a reason
calls them off at the right season
has reached His goal when
the wick of agony burns quickly to the bottom.
These sorrowful days often
turn out to be our best, when
we've passed the test,
come through lengthy stretches of summer weather
and soft meadows sprout with fresh flowers again.
We've tasted the deepest depths
and the highest heights
When Jesus is our lighthouse
the guardian in the night.
