One day I decided to take a hike;
it was beautiful out and the sun was shining, just the way I like.
When I got to the edge of the trail, there was a man standing there;
he had a beard, a mustache, and long flowing hair.
He said, I've been waiting for you, but only for a while;
did you hear me call, or just feel my smile.
I looked at him with surprise in my eyes, wondering what he meant;
so I asked him how he knew me and how it was that he was sent.
He said, today is the day that you must choose, the trail your going to take;
I AM here to help you make that choice, it's not an easy one to make.
There are two trails to choose from, which one will you take;
this trail is the easy one, but it leads to a fiery lake.
If you choose the easy trail, I cannot lead you through;
it's wide and smooth but you'll be on your own, believe me this is true.
The other trail is narrow and full of snakes and thieves;
but everything will be ok if you stay on bended knees.
There are jagged edges and bumps ahead, that I'll be there to smooth;
and when your weak and feeling tired, I'll even carry you.
Have faith in me, he said, and not in all this world has to offer;
I AM the life the truth and the way, I AM your holy father.
The narrow trail is the one I choose, and pray I'll always stay;
and with the help and guidance of the Lord I know I'll be ok.
