The love of God comes softly,
Across the string of the soul.
Touching ever so slightly,
Or as loud as a bell might toll.
Most oft it comes as a whisper,
And brings a tear to the eye.
It moves across our being,
And we have to wonder why.
Oh Lord how Thou dost love us,
With thy offer of salvation so free.
And with all your love upon us,
How can we but trust in Thee.
Ah Lord, even as Christians,
At times we turn from Thy love.
And we begin to love the world,
And not the things above.
Then Thy love moves upon us,
And stirs and stirs in our soul.
How can we but turn back,
To, One who loves us so!
